Ethical Principles of the Movement Disorders Journal
The journal chooses first-quality scientific articles after being reviewed by neurology professionals. Reviewing and the entire process of publishing shall be complete, impartial and fair. The journal reputation based on trust of readers, authors, scientists, reviewers, editors, study subject, sponsors and administrators of the national health policy.

Design of scientific work and ethics
Research studies should be conducted under high standards of control both over quality and data analysis. The record of full data should be kept and provided for inspection upon request. Falsification, concealing data, reporting untrue data or misrepresenting them shall be deemed scientific violation. If the research study involves people, medical documentation and human tissues a documented approval of the respective unit’s ethical committee shall be required.

Authorship
Authorship is a significant intellectual contribution to the research work, certain role in the writing of an articles and reviewing its final version; however, this may vary to a certain extent. The participants in the research work should decide sooner who will be the authors and in what succession in order to avoid any disputes and misunderstandings that may delay or hamper publishing the work. All authors should assume responsibility for the writing and authenticity of the information in the article and only one of them should make a guarantee and assume responsibility for the entire article.

Conflict of interests and representation
The authors should state in their works all financial or other significant conflicts of interest generated in order to influence the results or interpretation of the work. All sources of financial aid for the project should be mentioned.
Examples for potential conflicts that have to be described include a job position, consultations, ownership, royalties, paid expertise, patented applications/registrations, scholarships or other types of funding.
Potential conflicts of interests should be described as soon as possible.

Main publishing mistakes
If an author finds a considerable mistake or inaccuracy in their work, it shall be their responsibility to notify the editor of the journal or publishing house immediately and to assist the editor for the withdrawal or correction of the work. If it comes to the editor’s or the publisher’s knowledge that the published work contains a major mistake it is again the responsibility of the author to withdraw or correct their work immediately or to provide the editor with evidence for the correctness of the original work.

Reviews
The reviewers are experts selected by the editors of the Movement Disorders Journal to provide written evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of a given work in order to improve the report and to determine the most appropriate material of best quality for the journal. Usually, the reviewers chosen by the journal are well experienced in original research works and publishing.

Editor’s decisions
The decisions on the approval of a given material and its future publishing shall be based on its significance and importance, originality and clarity, and its connection with the scope and contents of the journal. If, at a later stage, it is established that a published article contains mistakes and/or imperfections, the editor shall be responsible to correct the reports.

Originality, Preprint, Media relations
The Movement Disorders Journal publishes original materials which were never published before. Repeated publishing in another language or simultaneous publishing in several different journals with different audiences may be accepted provided that the original source is stated when submitting the article to the editorial team. Upon submitting the article to the editors, the authors should specify in detail all their articles associated with the published material, even if in another languages, all their author’s articles on the same subject published in the press, all their author’s articles on the same subject published in the past, even the ones which are currently in print.

Advertising
The advertisers and sponsors have no control over the editorial. The Movement Disorders Journal requires that all advertisements should clearly identify the advertiser and the product or service they provide. Advertisements should not be positioned next to articles discussing a certain advertised product, neither to articles reporting a study of this product. The advertisements shall be presented and visually formatted differently from the editorial in order to avoid any confusion. Advertisements shall be printed inside the cover and, as an exception, on the last page of the journal. The advertised products or services should be associated with the (a) medical practice, (b) medical training, or (c) any other type of healthcare. The journal may refuse any advertising whatsoever. Advertising, republishing or any other commercial incomes shall not influence the decisions of the editorial team of the Movement Disorders Journal.

Response to possible violation
All allegations of violations shall be sent to the journal’s editor-in-chief journal who shall review the facts and consult the deputy editors. The initial clarification of the situation shall begin after all parties are being asked to provide their arguments and explain the facts in writing. On the issues of violation related to submitted research data (methods or technical issues) the editor-in-chief may confidentially consult experts who shall be blinded for the author’s identity; or if the allegation is against the editor-in-chief, with an external expert. The-editor-in chief and the deputy editors shall decide whether there is sufficient evidence to make a reasonable person believe that such violation is possible. Their task is not to determine whether an actual violation exists, neither to establish details associated with such violation. Where the allegations refer to authors, reviewing and publishing may be suspended for a moment, while the above process takes place. The investigation described above shall be completed even if the authors withdraw their materials. In case of allegations against the reviewers or editors, they will be replaced by substitutes until the investigation is completed.
