Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE AUTHORS

The Bulgarian Movement Disorders Society issues the Movement Disorders journal twice a year. It will include original articles, overviews, short scientific communications, new diagnostic methods and new findings in therapy related to the movement disorder issues (Parkinsonism, Dystonia, Chorea, Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromuscular Diseases, Peripheral Nervous System diseases, etc.). Unpublished materials will be accepted only. The journal will publish updated information, article and book reviews.

Articles should be written and printed on a computer, with double line spacing, on a standard A4 paper sheets. Each page should contain 30 typewriting lines, 60 characters per line. Charts, figures, and pictures should be printed on a separate sheet each.

ARTICLE FORMATTING

Title page
Full title, name(s) of the author(s), the institution(s) they work for marked with a reference superscript index next to their name(s) if they work for different organizations, detailed mailing address.

Summary
The summary should be printed on a separate page both in English and Bulgarian, 30 lines long. It should include a title, name(s) of the author(s), introduction, study objectives, contingent, methods and results, discussion. The summary should end with keywords listed in alphabetical order and a contact address.

Original articles and short scientific communications
They should include the following sections: introduction, contingent and methods, results, discussion, and references. They shall be separated by headings of any of these parts. Original articles should not exceed 8 standard pages, and the short scientific communications 4 pages, including pictures, tables, summary, and literature. Tables and pictures should be numbered in Arabic numerals.

Overviews
They should include a summary and references, and should not exceed 10 pages.

Tables and pictures
Each table or picture should be submitted on a separate sheet. Name(s) of author(s) and title(s) of materials should be indicated with a pencil overleaf, as well as the vertical direction with an arrow.
Pictures, in order to be published, should be clear, black and white photographic prints. Publishing of colored pictures will be charged to the author.
The exact location of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Measuring units should be provided in SI and written in Latin letters.

References
This section should not contain more than 20 headings for the scientific communications, and up to 30 for the overviews. It must be printed on a separate sheet, with double line spacing. Authors shall be listed in alphabetical order and the last names and initials of all authors should be included. The list should begin with the sources in Cyrillic, and then those in Latin letters. The full titles of the referenced articles should be provided, and the abbreviated names of journals according to Index Medicus. In the text, the cited authors shall be indicated by their reference number in the Reference section.
